![]() | We Shall Not Be Shaken (Matt Redman) - £12.99 I’ll start with a confession – I’m not a huge Matt Redman fan – his brand of safe and slightly bland soft rock worship songs don’t do much for me. So when I was asked to review his latest CD I was slightly anxious whether I could be both honest but open-minded. After several plays, I have tried my best… Matt has recorded a set of modern day psalms for troubled days, and as usual the production, singing and musicianship are first class. The guitar work on “We Shall Not Be Shaken” is gorgeous, and I love the track “Remembrance” designed to lead reflection around communion. The words and music on “You Alone Can Rescue” combine into a powerfully moving worship resource, and most other tracks are upbeat anthems for these difficult times. My only criticism would be with some of the lyrics, which I feel assume too much of the listener; lines like “This is how we know what love is, just one look at your cross…” isn’t always how I feel, and words such as “the heavens ring, the saints all sing…” leave me yearning for something a bit grittier and more challenging – see Hyperstatic Union, The Elms, Starfield or Third Day for songs that I feel are a bit more rooted in how life really is. So, if you love Matt Redman you won’t be disappointed, he’s on good form – it’s just not quite my cup of tea. Ian |
![]() | Ben Cantelon - Running After You A worship album from this Soul Survivor and Holy Trinity Brompton worship leader. Writer of ‘Love Came Down’, ‘You Are’ and co-writer of ‘Happy Day’ with Tim Hughes, Ben Cantelon is the worship director for Soul Survivor, a role which takes him all over the world. But it’s not the physical miles that have inspired Running After You, his debut full length album due for release this coming August, Ben’s captivated by a deeper, more personal journey: one that takes us away from ‘business as usual’ and closer to God himself. With producer Dwayne Larring (Sonic Flood, Tim Hughes), Ben on acoustic guitars and keyboards as well as other musicians including Michael Guy Chislet (Hillsong United) on electric guitars, Running After You has the breadth and force to inspire people and take their journey a few steps further. ‘Running After You links in with the idea of being desperate to follow and connect with God; wanting God to get closer but life getting in the way. So this is a real journey album – full of songs of total praise, lament and confusion, trial and hardship.’ – Ben Cantelon In stock £12.71 |
![]() | 29th Chapter - Louder The albums title “Louder” is the clearest indication to date of these four young men’s intent. This statement is underlined right from the get-go in opening track “Radio” where they confidently assert that they will be heard and you will love it. Each track effortlessly reveals another unique dimension to the group’s depth and versatility. One moment they are kicking against the status quo and stirring the waters of revolution in tracks Get Strong, Fall Back and Louder. The next they are musing about life and love, through their own unique brand of wit and wordplay in tracks Invincible, So Good and Man Up. Every once in a while a group comes along that turns everything upside down; cue The 29th Chapter….looks like the bar just got raised. In Stock £6.99 |

![]() | Phatfish - In Jesus Phatfish are back! With the release of ‘In Jesus’, their latest album, which is another uplifting demonstration of the bands faithful commitment to presenting the truth of Christ, and is arguably their best work yet. From the blues-rock title track In Jesus, with its grungy rock guitars and shatteringly lucid presentation of the gospel, to the equally driving and compelling Mission - the album travels and journeys through a diverse soundscape with the ease and dexterity that fans have come to expect. The band plays with a zeal and energy that belies any assumption of the bands slowing down. This is Phatfish as we know and love them. In stock £12.99 (to see review of this CD click here) |
